Do you ever smile out of nowhere? You know, the kind of smile that starts in your gut and spreads throughout your whole body? If not, we gotta change that. This is the most amazing feeling in the world!
Some people get it when they look at the person they love, some when they are doing the activity they love most. For me, it's coffee. Coffee is the coziest, comfiest thing and my family revolves pretty heavily around coffee so it usually means long mornings spent together and is full of great memories.
It's in the simple pleasures that seem irrelevant that I think I find the most happiness and I wonder why sometimes it is so difficult to get back to this place. Forget about the mortgage for a minute, forget about the 100s of commitments and obligations you have this week. Forget about the workout you HAVE to get in. It took me a long time to get to this point, but once I was able to relax into the little pleasures, and allow myself to indulge in my coffee addiction, for example. That's when I started to find true happiness.
Some of the things that make me smile the deepest are:
1. Crisp Saturday mornings with a hot cup of coffee (and ideally my family)
2. Long, spontaneous drives to somewhere new
3. A clean, freshly laundered bed
4. A hot shower after a cold day
5. Splurging on an expensive candle
What makes you smile on the inside?
Let's spend a little more time relishing in these little things, that way, the big things we are striving for don't seem so far away.
Remember, you are exactly where you are supposed to be xo
